Cannabis Tinctures in Bangor, Maine
A tincture is cannabis extract in a liquid carrier, taken with a marked dropper. It is the most precisely adjustable format we sell, which makes it the quiet favourite of customers who want a small, repeatable dose rather than a big one.
Maine Grown
Everything on our shelves is cultivated in Maine and tested by state licensed laboratories.
Open Seven Days
Walk in any day of the week. No appointment and no medical card required.
Adults 21 and Over
Valid government issued photo ID checked at the door, every customer, every visit.
Adjustable Dosing
A marked dropper lets you take exactly as much as you want and change it next time by a fraction. No cutting, no guessing.
No Smoking
Nothing to inhale, no equipment, no smell. Popular with customers who want cannabis without any form of combustion or vapour.
Faster Than Edibles
Held under the tongue, some of the dose absorbs directly, which can bring onset forward compared with a gummy that must be digested first.
How to Take a Tincture
There are two ways to use one, and they behave differently enough that it is worth knowing which you are doing.
Sublingually means holding the liquid under your tongue for sixty to ninety seconds before swallowing. Some of the cannabinoid absorbs through the tissue there and enters the bloodstream directly, skipping the digestive route. That portion arrives faster, often within fifteen to forty five minutes. Swallowing immediately, by contrast, turns the tincture into an edible, with the same long onset and long duration described in our edibles dosing guide.
In practice you get a mixture of both, which is why tinctures often feel like they arrive in two stages. Start with a small measure, hold it, and wait a full ninety minutes before deciding whether to take more. The same warning that applies to gummies applies here. Redosing early is how people end up uncomfortable.
Tinctures are the format we most often recommend to customers who want to find a genuinely small working dose. Our guide to microdosing explains the approach, and our article on low THC cannabis covers why plenty of experienced customers deliberately aim low.
THC, CBD, and Ratio Tinctures
Tinctures come in THC dominant, CBD dominant, and balanced ratio versions, and the ratio changes the experience substantially. A high CBD tincture will not produce the intoxication a THC one does. Balanced ratios sit between, and many customers find them more comfortable than THC alone.
If you are unclear on how the two compounds differ, our explainer on THC versus CBD is the place to start, and our CBD range covers the non intoxicating side of what we stock. For the wider chemistry, what cannabis terpenes do applies to tinctures as much as to flower, since better products retain them.
Tincture Questions We Get
How long before I feel it?
Fifteen to ninety minutes depending on how much you held under the tongue and what else is in your stomach. Wait the full time.
Can I put it in a drink?
You can, but you lose the sublingual advantage and it becomes an edible.
How should I store it?
Cool, dark, tightly closed, and out of reach of children and pets.
Is it stronger than an edible?
Not inherently. It is more precisely adjustable, which is a different and often more useful property.
Who Tinctures Suit Best
Tinctures occupy a specific niche and they are excellent for the people in it. If you recognise yourself in any of the following, this is probably the format worth trying.
Customers who do not want to inhale anything. Whether the reason is a respiratory concern, a household where smoke is not welcome, or simply a preference, tinctures remove combustion and vapour from the equation entirely while still giving you fine control over the dose.
Customers who found edibles too unpredictable. The complaint we hear most about gummies is that the dose felt like a blunt instrument, either not enough or far too much. A dropper lets you move in small increments and settle on an amount that genuinely works, rather than choosing between half a gummy and a whole one.
Customers building a routine rather than chasing an experience. If your goal is a small, consistent, repeatable amount, a tincture is the easiest format in which to be consistent. This is the same reasoning behind microdosing, and it is why tinctures and microdosing come up in the same conversation so often.
Customers who want to control the ratio. Tinctures are the format where THC to CBD ratios are most clearly labelled and most easily varied, which matters if you are trying to find a balance that suits you rather than accepting whatever a given cultivar happens to offer.
Getting Your Dose Right
Read the label before the first dose and work out how many milligrams a full dropper contains. This varies enormously between products, and a full dropper of a strong tincture can be several times a sensible starting dose. The number that matters is milligrams per millilitre, not the size of the bottle.
Start with a quarter dropper or less if the product is unfamiliar. Hold it under your tongue for a full ninety seconds, which is longer than it feels, then swallow. Wait ninety minutes before making any decision about taking more. Keep a note of what you took and how it went for the first few times, because the whole advantage of this format is that it lets you tune the amount, and tuning requires knowing where you started.
Tolerance shifts over time, so a dose that works now may need revisiting. Our guide to building tolerance slowly covers managing that, and why effects vary from person to person explains why a friend’s dose is not a useful guide to yours.
